Job Description
About Us
Circle is building the world’s leading AI-powered, all-in-one platform for digital businesses. We make it possible for creators, coaches, educators, and businesses to bring together their audience with engaging discussions, live streams, events, chat, courses, and payments, all in one place, all under their own brand.
We’re proud to be a fully remote company of around 270 (and growing!) team members from 30+ countries around the world. We work with talented people from around the globe who bring fresh perspectives, take ownership of their work, and make a meaningful impact on what we're building. We move quickly, hold ourselves to high standards, and value thoughtful, proactive collaboration. Our team works across time zones, embraces asynchronous communication, and prioritizes clear documentation to keep everyone aligned.
As a contractor at Circle, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, collaborate with talented people, and help shape a product used by digital businesses around the world.
About the role
Circle is looking for two long-term freelance translators for Italian (IT). You’ll translate software UI text and online marketing content from English into clear, natural Italian that reflects local language and cultural conventions. Your work will help Circle deliver a consistent, culturally relevant product and customer experience for Italian-speaking audiences. After onboarding, you’ll work autonomously and asynchronously with Circle and the other Italian translator, sharing work based on availability and coordinating coverage when needed. This is a remote independent-contractor engagement with limited meetings and regular Slack collaboration.
What you'll be doing
- Translate English software UI text delivered as keys, preserving meaning, clarity, tone, variables, and formatting requirements.
- Translate online marketing content into persuasive, natural Italian for the intended audience.
- Apply Circle’s translation guidelines, glossary, and style guide consistently across all assigned work.
- Use Circle-approved key-based translation tools and other approved systems, including any approved AI tools.
- Review and resolve quality-assurance issues identified during linguistic review.
- Communicate your availability, typical turnaround time, and delivery risks asynchronously in Slack.
- Coordinate with Circle and the other Italian translator to share work and maintain continuity when you are unavailable.
What you’ll need to be successful
- Demonstrated professional experience translating software user-interface text into Italian.
- Demonstrated professional experience translating online marketing content into Italian.
- Professional experience working in key-based translation or localization tools rather than only document-based translation workflows.
- Native-level command of Italian and strong comprehension of English source content, demonstrated through relevant professional work.
- Ability to work independently, follow detailed language guidance, and make sound judgment calls when source context is incomplete.
- Willingness to participate in a review loop by investigating, reporting, and correcting quality-assurance issues.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English (CEFR C2 or equivalent), as most collaboration at Circle happens asynchronously.
Bonus points
- Familiarity with online communities, creator-economy products, or software used by creators.
- Experience localizing content for a SaaS, membership, community, or other digital product.
How to apply
The Apply button opens Circle's own application page in a new browser tab — applying is free, and this board never sits between you and the employer: no middleman, no form of ours to fill first.
This posting runs on Ashby, the applicant tracking system behind Circle's job board — the form you'll see lives at jobs.ashbyhq.com. It asks for the basics first: your name, email, and a résumé/CV upload. After that come the custom questions this employer wrote for the role — Ashby lets each team tailor its application, and some postings add a short questionnaire on top, so set aside a few quiet minutes rather than a thirty-second sprint. Because the questions change per role, re-read the requirements above before you start typing; answers that echo the exact skills the listing names are the ones that survive screening. Two practical notes: apply promptly while the posting is verified live, since teams close applications once a role fills, and use one email address for the application so your details stay under one identity.
