Platform Engineer

ResendDevOps & Infrastructure

Job Description

Resend is growing fast, and there are now over 4 million developers using it. We’re building tools that make email better for developers. We care about dependable infrastructure, thoughtful design, and the experience of everyone building with our products.

The Platform Squad builds and maintains the infrastructure, tools, and systems that keep Resend running reliably, securely, and at scale, empowering our teams to build, deploy, and operate services with confidence.

This role is fully remote based in Americas or European timezones, with some expected travel for team offsites, conferences, meetups, and more.

Read more about how we work, how we hire, and what we value here.

In this role, you will…

  • Build and improve the platform that powers Resend, providing reliable infrastructure and tooling that enables engineers to move quickly and safely
  • Design and operate scalable cloud infrastructure, primarily on AWS, with a focus on reliability, performance and security
  • Automate operational work and build self-service workflows that make common infrastructure and engineering tasks easier
  • Establish platform standards and patterns that help teams build, deploy, and operate services consistently
  • Improve reliability and observability across Resend, including participating in incident response and turning operational issues into lasting improvements
  • Partner with engineers across Resend to solve infrastructure and platform problems and build reusable solutions

You will be a great fit if you

  • Bring 8+ years of experience across infrastructure engineering, platform, or SRE
  • Have strong experience managing production infrastructure as code, using tools like AWS CDK, Terraform, or Pulumi
  • Understand distributed systems and cloud infrastructure, including queues, workers, databases, caching, networking, and load balancing
  • Have solid working knowledge of AWS
  • Have strong experience with observability and monitoring, using tools like Datadog, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry
  • Are comfortable working across the stack, from load balancers and networking to delivery pipelines
  • Take ownership, communicate trade-offs clearly, and are comfortable working independently while knowing when to ask for help
  • Communicate clearly in written and spoken English and can consistently overlap with Americas working hours

You will be an exceptional fit if you also

  • Have operated high-throughput systems at scale
  • Have built internal platforms, developer tooling, or self-service infrastructure
  • Have worked on developer tools, public APIs, or email infrastructure
  • Have deep experience with Node.js, TypeScript, Go, and Postgres

What it means to join the team

  • Meaningful ownership: Help decide what we build and take responsibility for how it works
  • Autonomy: Make decisions, propose improvements, and move work forward
  • A high bar for quality: Care about everything from API behavior to how a service recovers from failure
  • A collaborative, low-ego team: Give honest feedback, share knowledge, and help each other grow
  • Remote work: Work with a fully remote team, with flexibility around shared working hours
  • Comp: $150,000 - $180,000 USD, commensurate with location and experience

How to apply

The Apply button opens Resend's own application page in a new browser tab — applying is free, and this board never sits between you and the employer: no middleman, no form of ours to fill first.

This posting runs on Ashby, the applicant tracking system behind Resend's job board — the form you'll see lives at jobs.ashbyhq.com. It asks for the basics first: your name, email, and a résumé/CV upload. After that come the custom questions this employer wrote for the role — Ashby lets each team tailor its application, and some postings add a short questionnaire on top, so set aside a few quiet minutes rather than a thirty-second sprint. Because the questions change per role, re-read the requirements above before you start typing; answers that echo the exact skills the listing names are the ones that survive screening. Two practical notes: apply promptly while the posting is verified live, since teams close applications once a role fills, and use one email address for the application so your details stay under one identity.

Before you start

Tailor your résumé to the skills this listing names — employers screen for the requirements they wrote.
Have your work-authorization details ready — citizenship, visas, and right-to-work countries come up on remote applications.
Use the listed range ($150k to $180k) as your anchor in salary talk — the employer published it, so it is a fair opening number.

Salary context

The listed range of $150k to $180k a year sits about 14% below the board-wide median for DevOps & Infrastructure roles on this board.

That median is $157,250 to $231,000 a year, based on 119 live listings where the employer publishes an annual USD range — the same rules as the board's salary report.

Quick answers
