ContraFrontend Development

Job Description

Who we are

Contra Labs is a frontier human data and evaluation lab making AI better for creativity.

We work at the intersection of human creativity and frontier AI, exploring what becomes possible as the world's most advanced models transform how we design, build, and create.

Built on Contra's global network of creative professionals, we partner with leading AI labs and technology companies to advance the creative capabilities of AI through research, evaluation, and real-world creative expertise.

Our ambition is to help define the future of creativity in the age of AI.

The opportunity

We're looking for a Head of Creative to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI.

This is an opportunity to create things that have never been made before.

You'll lead the creative vision and execution of ambitious, one-of-one digital experiences that demonstrate the true capabilities of frontier AI models.

From experimental websites and interactive research reports to generative visuals, motion, and entirely new creative formats, your work will challenge expectations of what AI can produce.

You'll have the freedom to experiment with emerging models, combine disciplines, invent new workflows, and turn ambitious ideas into exceptional finished work.

We're looking for someone with extraordinary creative taste, relentless curiosity, and a genuine obsession with making things. Someone who sees frontier AI as an entirely new creative medium and wants to explore its full potential.

Your work will become a public expression of what's possible at the frontier of creative AI.

How to apply

The Apply button opens Contra's own application page in a new browser tab — applying is free, and this board never sits between you and the employer: no middleman, no form of ours to fill first.

This posting runs on Ashby, the applicant tracking system behind Contra's job board — the form you'll see lives at jobs.ashbyhq.com. It asks for the basics first: your name, email, and a résumé/CV upload. After that come the custom questions this employer wrote for the role — Ashby lets each team tailor its application, and some postings add a short questionnaire on top, so set aside a few quiet minutes rather than a thirty-second sprint. Because the questions change per role, re-read the requirements above before you start typing; answers that echo the exact skills the listing names are the ones that survive screening. Two practical notes: apply promptly while the posting is verified live, since teams close applications once a role fills, and use one email address for the application so your details stay under one identity.

Before you start

Tailor your résumé to the skills this listing names — employers screen for the requirements they wrote.
Have your work-authorization details ready — citizenship, visas, and right-to-work countries come up on remote applications.
Use the listed range ($180k to $250k) as your anchor in salary talk — the employer published it, so it is a fair opening number.

Salary context

The listed range of $180k to $250k a year sits about 13% above the board-wide median for Frontend Development roles on this board.

That median is $155,000 to $220,500 a year, based on 43 live listings where the employer publishes an annual USD range — the same rules as the board's salary report.

The parsed benefits on this listing include Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance, 401(k) Match, and more — equity is among them, so total compensation can extend beyond this base range.
