Founding Engineer

FigMobile Development

Job Description

About Fig
Fig is the AI platform for industrial ingredient manufacturers, the $750B industry that makes the ingredients in every food you eat. Some of the top ingredient businesses in the US are already on the platform and demand is pulling us forward faster than we can hire. Backed by Innovation Endeavors alongside angels from Instacart and foundational model labs who bet on this team.

The role
You'd join our founding engineering team, working directly with the founders every day and in every major decision the company makes. Some days you'll build backend systems that ingest hundreds of PDFs from customer ERPs and inboxes. Other days you'll build an agent that completes a 100 page food safety document. Frontend, backend, infra, agents. Everything is fair game.

The team
You'd work daily with founders out of Stanford, Instacart, Nature's Fynd, and Bain, plus a CTO who was the first engineer at two startups before this one. Between us: multiple successful tech companies and a multigenerational food manufacturing business. It's the rare room where deep AI talent and deep ingredient industry roots sit at the same table.

How we build
Kotlin and Spring Boot, React and NextJS, Postgres, GCP, Gemini and Anthropic, plus a healthy stipend for coding agent(s) of your choice. Intentionally simple. We'd rather go deep on a small set of tools than spread thin across a trendy stack.

Who wins here
A builder. You've shipped products real people used and you can explain what you'd do differently. You'd rather ship something 80% right today and iterate tomorrow than debate architecture for two weeks. If you enjoy rolling up your sleeves and diving into unknown territory, you'll feel at home at Fig.

We don't care where you went to school or how many years you have. We care about what you've built and how you think.

How to apply

The Apply button opens Fig's own application page in a new browser tab — applying is free, and this board never sits between you and the employer: no middleman, no form of ours to fill first.

This posting runs on Ashby, the applicant tracking system behind Fig's job board — the form you'll see lives at jobs.ashbyhq.com. It asks for the basics first: your name, email, and a résumé/CV upload. After that come the custom questions this employer wrote for the role — Ashby lets each team tailor its application, and some postings add a short questionnaire on top, so set aside a few quiet minutes rather than a thirty-second sprint. Because the questions change per role, re-read the requirements above before you start typing; answers that echo the exact skills the listing names are the ones that survive screening. Two practical notes: apply promptly while the posting is verified live, since teams close applications once a role fills, and use one email address for the application so your details stay under one identity.

Before you start

Tailor your résumé to the skills this listing names — employers screen for the requirements they wrote.
Have your work-authorization details ready — citizenship, visas, and right-to-work countries come up on remote applications.
Use the listed range ($220k to $270k) as your anchor in salary talk — the employer published it, so it is a fair opening number.

Salary context

The listed range of $220k to $270k a year sits about 36% above the board-wide median for Mobile Development roles on this board.

That median is $160,000 to $201,500 a year, based on 18 live listings where the employer publishes an annual USD range — the same rules as the board's salary report.

Quick answers

Is this job still open?
Yes. Listings on this board are re-verified 4 times a day and auto-expire 45 days after posting — if this page is visible, the role was open at the last check.
Where does the Apply button go?

Is the salary listed?
Yes — the employer publishes an annual range for this role: $220k to $270k.
